Engy Hamada (Arabic: إنجى حمادة), born Samah Mustafa (Arabic: سماح مصطفى), is an Egyptian media personality and television presenter. She gained notoriety through her involvement in social media content creation, particularly on TikTok, and has faced multiple legal challenges related to her online activities.
Career
Hamada worked as a broadcaster, appearing in programs where she reportedly paid for airtime to promote herself. She collaborated with TikTok influencer Karwan Moshakel (real name: Mahmoud Mustafa) on videos that drew public attention and subsequent legal scrutiny. Her content often aimed at increasing viewership and generating revenue through social media platforms and advertisements. Investigations revealed she purchased advertising slots on satellite channels to boost her fame and conceal prior legal issues.
Legal issues
In 2024, Hamada was arrested alongside Karwan Moshakel for publishing videos deemed indecent and offensive to public modesty, including a widely circulated “kitchen video.” The Economic Misdemeanor Court initially sentenced both to one year in prison and a fine of 100,000 Egyptian pounds each. They appealed the verdict. On September 7, 2024, the Cairo Economic Appeal Court upheld the prison sentence for Moshakel but acquitted Hamada of imprisonment, while maintaining the 100,000 EGP fine for both.
Hamada has prior convictions, including assault on a public official and violation of public decency. During interrogations, she admitted to engaging in controversial activities to gain more followers and illicit profits.
In September 2025, the Public Prosecution referred Hamada to the Economic Court on charges of money laundering and illicit gains. Prosecutors accused her of laundering funds obtained from indecent video content through financial transactions aimed at concealing their illegal origins. The first hearing is scheduled for December 23, 2025. Authorities ordered her arrest and detention pending the trial.
Personal life
Details about Hamada’s early life, education, and family remain limited in public records. She resides in Egypt and has used her platform to navigate media and online spaces, though her career has been overshadowed by legal controversies.
